Invoices

Most people billing a client do not need accounting software

They need one document, a few times a month, that contains the right fields and does not look like it was typed in a hurry.

Open the invoice templateFill it in, export as PDF

The usual alternatives are a word processor file that drifts out of alignment every time a line is added, or a full bookkeeping system priced for a company with staff. A template sits between them.

What belongs on one

Who, to whom

Your details and the client's, in full. An invoice missing a legal name is an invoice that comes back.

A number and two dates

An invoice number, the date issued and the date due. The number matters more than people expect — it is how the payment gets matched to the document.

Lines, then a total

What was done, how much of it, at what rate. A client who can see the arithmetic queries it less.

How to pay

The most commonly forgotten field on an otherwise perfect invoice.

What the template set covers

  • Fills eight business form templates — invoice, receipt, quote, purchase order and more

What this is not

  • Let you download the result without a subscription — running the tool is open to everyone, the download is not
  • Offer a free plan — there is an intro week, then the monthly or annual price

It is a form that produces a document, not a system that tracks whether the document was paid. For many people that is exactly the right size.
